Employers: University Preparatory Academy Has Interns For You!

We received an inquiry from University Preparatory High School in Detroit, Michigan about internships for graduating seniors during the summer prior to entering college. While DI Network does not provide listings for graduating high school seniors, we wanted to inform our employers about this request.
Please contact Orma Smith (osmith@uprep.com) at University Preparatory High School if you are interested in hiring one of their outstanding graduates.

University Preparatory Academy High School opened in September of 2003 when UPA's first Middle School students were ready to enter the 9th grade. It began with a 9th grade class of 128 students and added a grade each year, until it reached its full size in 2007. That was the same year that University Prep High School graduated its first class. Ninety-four percent of the first 12th grade class graduated that year, and over 90 percent of those graduates went on to post-secondary educational programs, statistics that have only been improved in succeeding years. These numbers show that our "one student at a time" philosophy is working. We've found a path that works for Detroit-area children, and we look forward to leading more students along that pathway.

Middlebury College's Review of DI Network - Hilarious!

A review from Middlebury College's Career Services Blog...a little outdated, but hilarious.

So we all know how great MOJO and LACN are as sources for finding scrumptious internship and job opportunities. But what if the absolutely fabulous internships or jobs they offer don't quite suit your fancy? Tough luck, better luck next time...don't worry, I'm only kidding. I know you're extremely relieved. But seriously, beyond the resources found in the Student section of the CSO website for finding internships, me and my fantastical self happened to stumble across another means for learning about great internship and job opportunities.

It is called DI (Detroit Intern) Network. Haven't heard of it? Neither had I. Beyond what the title might imply, internships in Detroit, it lists oodles of internship and job opportunities in Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco-Oakland, Washington D.C.

Here's a taste of what DI Network offers:

- Over 4000 jobs and internships available for viewing!
- Register, view and apply for opportunities for free! Register at http://detroitintern.com/register/
- National network of regional web sites! See all locations at http://www.dinetworkonline.com/
- Coming Soon: Expanding to Philadelphia, San Francisco, Oakland and Denver.
- Easy to use management system.
- Online candidate applying with free resume upload.
- Partnership with Idealist.org.
- Featured on The Riley Guide and in Crain's Detroit Business!
- Free resume and job resources available.
- Better internal statistics to improve our sites' effectiveness.

If you did not know, I took that blurb from the DI Network. And if you didn't notice, they used an exuberant amount of exclamation points, so you know it's good, or at least they are real pumped for it so you should be too. I was told by a dear friend, Good Time Tom, that people respond to exclamation points and smiley faces in writing. Maybe DI Network found the method to be equally useful, it caught my attention. In any event, DI Network is another great way for you to find internships and jobs! So check it out!
